What does God know about you?

God, of course, knows everything…which means He knows everything about you & knows you better than you know yourself. He knows the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30). In this age of constant electronic surveillance, it may seem like there are no secrets–but there is only One who knows, sees, & hears everything (& I don’t mean Alexa). He not only knows the outer things you see, say, & do, He knows the deep inner things you think & feel. That should be upsetting if you don’t know Christ as Savior; but if you do, it’s very settling.

So let me remind you of 5 specific areas that make a difference in your life (based on a borrowed outline from several years ago I’ve modified):

  1. God knows your flaws.

“O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you” (Psalm 69:5). The first thing that Adam & Eve did when they sinned was to try to hide. You might think you got away with something because nobody saw it–but God did. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can never fool God. We all have skeletons in our closets. You may worry about those things being exposed to others, but God’s not shocked by any of it. So be honest with Him & confess instead of trying to cover it up. Come clean. He’ll still love you. It doesn’t change the way He’ll feel about you because He’s already fully aware. So you don’t have to fake it to make it with God. “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13)

  1. God knows your feelings.

“…You have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul…” (Psalm 31:7). You may think nobody understands what you’re going through, but God not only knows, He cares. There’s no hurt that goes unnoticed. Since He’s powerful & good, give Him all your hurts. He can do something about them. Let Him bring soothing peace to your soul through His Spirit by “casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Lay them at His feet, & don’t take them back.

  1. God knows your fears.

Do you ever act as if God is unaware of what’s getting you stressed out? When you forget that, worry sets in & you begin to take matters into your own hands. Could it be that many emotional problems are the result of not understanding that God knows what you’re anxious about? He wants to bring peace & calm. So instead of panicking, pray. Even though “…your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:8), He’s waiting for you to ask. “…Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything…let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).

  1. God knows your faithfulness.

God not only sees my faults & failures, He sees every time I do right & resist temptation. “And your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:4). The good you do will be rewarded at some point in some way. On that stage of life, while no one else may be applauding, God is cheering you on. But are you the same behind closed doors as you are in the public eye? What matters more than anything is what kind of person you are when nobody is looking. We always are “performing” for an audience of One. Nothing good you do is ever in vain. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).

  1. God knows your future.

“…In your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:16). Most everyone would like to know what to expect. Some even consult horoscopes & psychics. But only One knows what’s going to happen next. God sees my tomorrow just as clearly as He sees my today & my yesterday because He’s unlimited by time. It’s comforting to know that He not only knows the future but that He’s already there. Whatever you’re going to face, it may surprise you, but not Him. God’s already preparing you for it. Since He already knows everything that’s going to happen, you can ask Him for wisdom & advice now, & strength for what’s to come.

What’s amazing (grace) is that nobody knows you like God, yet nobody loves you like God.
